DESIGN HISTORY

1999 - present
...In 1999 I joined Visual Law in Los Gatos as lead modeler with an emphasis on low-polygon projects. We obtained the contract as primary outside vendor producing low-polygon VRML models for UBUBU of San Francisco (www.ububu.com) and I personally produced more than half of the firm's output for that contract. My acceptance rate for completed models was greater than 98%.

1998 - 1999...Design Associate, Montara Creative Group, San Francisco. Montara is an aggressive design shop with a diverse client base that includes both domestic and international clients in a variety of retail and commercial fields. My work involved both design for print as well as web-related graphics. Montara is moving towards a broader use of 3-D graphics and I was able to utilize my modeling/rendering skill-sets to produce practical concept pieces as well as finished illustrations for both high and low-resolution output.

1997-1998...Lead Designer for Famous Associates, Sin Zhin, Peoples Republic of China. I took advantage of the opportunity to serve a one-year position as lead designer on site at this firm's facilities located in one of China's leading commerce districts. Famous Associates is a major player in the giftware industry with product lines sold in the United States and across Europe. My work included developing concept drawings for potential new products as well as solving a number of design problems for revisions to existing product lines.

1995-1997...Artist/Animator/Illustrator/Character Design for Modern Media Ventures. San Francisco. A mix of Game Design, Character Development, Refinement of existing characters, Storyboarding, Animation for children's Multi-Media Educational software. Modern Media produced the "Gus and the CyberBuds" titles, aimed at the 3-8 year old market. After producing five major titles in the "Learning Adventure" series, and developing an award-winning Website (http://www.gustown.com), Modern Media teamed with MicroMedia Portland to produce 24 titles based on traditional Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Anderson ,the Brothers Grimm and Aesop's Fables. I was given the task of producing the interface and visuals for the StoryBook Series. I teamed with the WebMaster to produce visuals and animations on the WebSite.

1994-1995 Freelance/contract work in the Bay Area after graduation from Masters. Clients include: HyperMedia Group (Emeryville) animation for childrens' CD titles, CKS Interactive (Cupertino) cartoon animation, J-Media (Los Gatos) 3-D modeling for courtroom presentations, Information Arts (Santa Cruz) cartoon avatars for on-screen sales presentation,Thinking Tools(Monterey) animations for southern California power utilities.

1993-1994 Instructor in Basic Drawing & Graphics at Masters Institute, concurrent with attending classes to update skills in computer Art & Design. Began by teaching pre-press production techniques in the evenings. This course was discontinued in favor of a drawing and design course. I co-designed the course with the day instructor and taught the first four course modules.

1992-1993 Assistant to CEO of Zoom Corp. of America, South San Francisco. Departmental Liason ( overseeing that new systems and procedures are being carried through, inventory control, etc.), eventually specializing in publications.

1986-1992 International Sources, San Francisco. Art Director and Product Designer. Production Liason with Taiwanese and Hong Kong manufacturers. Originally this position was household items and gifts. In the first year however; I.S. changed its focus to advertising & promotional items. My job was to design to client specifications, co-ordinate the production and delivery of the first generation hand samples, produce mechanical drawings when necessary to indicate changes for final production run.

1984-1986 Mechanicals & Miracles, San Francisco. Partner. Pre-Press production for magazine advertising and print collateral, corporate identity and communications programs.
