I should say that throwing on the wheel did not come easy for me. It was a struggle and a half. It should therefore be no surprise to discover that my love of clay started with hand-building.

If there is such a thing as destiny, then I was born to be a pinch-potter. It is a technique that is ancient, time consuming, painstaking and primitive. And rewarding.

It is a method that cannot be hurried. For that reason, it is also meditative. When you attempt larger pots, as most of these are, the mind has time to wander off to some very interesting places while the hands read the clay.
